Questions for Client

On Wednesday we heard back from the client about what proposal was selected to become the new AHF Web site design. Congratulations to our group we were selected. Thank you to everyone in our group for all the hard work put into the proposal. In order to develop the Web page, the class and Web page was divided into 4 parts. In order to complete the assignment, we have a few questions that need to be answered by the client.
1. What is the mission statement for the American Haitian Foundation?
2. What type of software would you like for us to develop your page with (Dream weaver, publisher, Mozilla, etc?)
3. What are the needs for the annual yard sale (items, volunteers, etc?)
4. What recent news or achievements would you like to include in the recent news box?
5. What is the primary contact information of the AHF?
6. Can the Adopt-a-Child process be done electronically? If yes, then how? If no, then what is the contact information to adopt-a-child?
7. If possible, could we get student testimonials?

Questions for Students in Haiti

Tigers for Haiti believes that having student testimonials on the AHF Web page would make the page more personal. It would also allow donors to see the effects of their investments into the AHF, the school and children. For these testimonials we came up with a few questions that the students may answer. The questions our team derived are as follows:
What do you want to be when you grow up?
What is your favorite subject?
What is your favorite thing about school?
What do you do for fun?
The students should also be encouraged to add any other additional information that they would like to share.

Finalzing the Proposal

This week our group met on Monday at Spill the Beans to finalize the proposal. Everything was sent to Callie so that she could put it in a proper format including a border and Tigers for Haiti logo. On Wednesday in class our group showed our proposal to the class and gave a brief explanation about it. We noticed that we had left out a description on the About us page. Julia said she would compile one and then send it to Callie. On Friday, we are to bring a printed copy of our proposal so that it can be peer reviewed. On Sunday we are going to meet at 2:00 to proofread and review the final proposal before we turn it in on Monday.

I think everyone in our group agrees that we are very happy with the final proposal and hopes that it will get choosen as the AHF's websiten layout. I am proud of everyone's hard work on the proposal. I feel like our team worked together well and definitely stayed on top of the work. It is nice not to have to be cramming on Sunday night to finish the proposal. It feels good to have it completed now. GOOD JOB TIGERS FOR HAITI!!!

The group went through the completed parts of the proposal.

Laura decided that we should take the main points for each link and put them in paragraph form. These paragraphs are to be sent to Julia this weekend so that she can make them sound cohesive. Once the body of the proposal is consistent, Julia will send it to Callie.

The group then discussed the upcoming due dates. We discussed what we still have not completed and split up the responsibilities among the group member. Meetings for the Week of October 8th

We had two group meetings this week; we met on Monday and Wednesday.

During the meetings we finalized our design plans for the various aspects of the website and began work on drafting the proposal. Each section of the website was divided up among the group members with the goal of creating bullet points about each page.

We plan on beginning to draft the rest of the proposal during our group meeting next week as well as finish the draft of the body of the proposal. Our group is very excited about this project and about our progress so far.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at Spill the Beans coffee shop. This was our first meeting and therefore, no previous minutes were approved.

Old Business:

None.

New Business:

The group first went over three possible layouts that Callie had prepared for the format of the website. We discussed each layout and came to an agreement on which layout we would be using in our proposal.

A couple of reminders were mentions: We need to make sure that give the class credit for creating the website on the website. We also need to make sure that we give Madeline Young credit for any pictures of hers that we use on the website. The group went through Julia’s pictures and noted a few that we want to use on the website. We also went through some of the documents that the Haitian students created.

The group decided to use the logo of the American Haitian foundation in the background of our homepage.

We closed the meeting by decided which section of the website we would discuss in our next meeting: “Haiti.” The links within “Haiti” were divided up among the members of the group. The next meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2007 at Spill the Beans, at 6:00 p.m.

Post Client Visit

This past Monday Dr. Young came and spoke to our class about the project and what exactly the web site's purpose will be. Our group found this to be a very helpful jump off point in terms of getting a clear idea of what we would like to include and how we would like to organize our web page. We are getting excited about starting this project and are encouraged that all our hard work has a chance of really impacting others' lives. We have our first official group meeting Monday (11/1) night at Spill the Beans. Callie has already come up with some great ideas about organization and has a rough sketch of the web page. The meeting will be a great opportunity to share this and other work that other members have completed as well. Hopefully we can come up with some awesome ideas, divide up the first round of work, and enjoy some great ice cream at the same time!

Tigers for Haiti, September 23, 2007

Our Group name is Tigers for Haiti. The group memebers are Jessica, Julia, Callie, Danny, and Laura. This week our team got together to come up with questions to ask Dr. Young upon his visit to our class. Here's what we came up with:
  • Can we post an “adopt a child” ad on our Blog and portfolio?
  • What do you want included on website?
  • Who is the audience?
  • What is the style of the website?
  • Are there any privacy issues dealing with people in our pictures?
  • As far as the language barrier, should there be translations on the website?

We also decided that it was very important that we research the history of the country and include that in the website.

TIGERS FOR HAITI

TIGERS FOR HAITI! Yes that is the name that has been chosen for our group. The Tigers for Haiti's mission for the semester is to complete an updated web page for the American Haitian Foundation. Our group consist of 5 members, Callie, Jessica, Julia, Laura, and Danny. At our very first meeting in class we set up a blog and designated team roles for each member. Callie is going to head up web design. Jessica is going to be the recorder of the minutes and agenda at the team meetings. Julia is going to be the writer, pulling together everyones work and making it into one piece. Danny is going to be our public relations representative. I, Laura, am the team leader. However, each member of the team will be involved in all parts of the client project and will also help the other team members out so that the work is balanced.

As a team we decided that it would be productive to meet once a week to discuss the project so that we can stay on top of the work that needs to be completed. We set a date for Mondays at 6:00 to meet at Spill the Beans. Our first assignment as a team is to research the history of Haiti and gain an understanding of how Haiti became in its current condition. We also want to determine any questions that we might have for the client so that we can address those questions when the client, Dr. Young, comes for a visit on September 24. Tigers For Haiti is looking foward to working together as a group and completeing our assignment for the American Haitian Foundation.
